Publish to your website
Choose where your blog's articles go live — WordPress, Webflow, Ghost, PrestaShop, a webhook, the ProjectHQ API or by hand — and publish from the editor.
When an article is ready, ProjectHQ can put it on your website for you. You choose once, per blog, where its articles go — your WordPress, Webflow, Ghost or PrestaShop site, a webhook, or your own site through the ProjectHQ API — and from then on Publish in the editor sends each article there, images included.
Where publishing is set up
Each blog (each publication) has its own destination. To open it:
- Open your blog under Publications and click Settings at the top right. (Or click Settings at the bottom of the menu and pick the blog under Publications.)
- Click Publishing.
While nothing is chosen yet, the section shows every destination as a tile:
Until you pick one, articles stay in ProjectHQ. You can change the destination at any time.
The destinations
| Destination | How you connect it | What happens when you publish | When you unpublish |
|---|---|---|---|
| WordPress | Install our free plugin, paste its key | A normal post, images in your media library, meta description and focus keyword in your SEO plugin | The post goes back to draft |
| Webflow | Sign in with Webflow, pick a CMS collection, map its fields | A live item in your collection, images uploaded to Webflow | The item stays live — remove it in Webflow |
| Ghost | Paste an Admin API key | A published post, images uploaded to Ghost | The post goes back to draft |
| PrestaShop | Install our free module, paste its token | A post in your shop's blog, images uploaded to the shop | The post is hidden |
| Webhook | Paste your endpoint's URL | The article sent as signed JSON to your URL (Zapier, Make, n8n or your own code) | Your endpoint gets an article.unpublished event |
| ProjectHQ API | Nothing to connect here — a developer connects your site once | The article is served by the ProjectHQ API for your site to show | It disappears from the API |
| Manual | Nothing to connect | You copy the article into your CMS and paste its live address back | Only its status in ProjectHQ changes |
Each destination has its own guide:
- Publish to WordPress
- Publish to Webflow
- Publish to Ghost
- Publish to PrestaShop
- Publish with a webhook or the API — covers both Webhook and ProjectHQ API
Good to know: ProjectHQ doesn't host a blog for you. With ProjectHQ API, your articles are served by our API, and your own site fetches and shows them.
Choose a destination
- ProjectHQ API and Manual need nothing set up: click the tile and publishing is on.
- Every other tile opens its connect form. Publishing turns on once the connection works. All destinations takes you back to the tiles.
Once a destination is live, the top of the section names it — your blog's own name for a connected site — with its status and a switch:
- Status — Connected for a connected site, Live for the ProjectHQ API, By hand for Manual. If the last check of your site failed, you see the problem here instead.
- The switch turns publishing off for this blog. Turning it off also removes the connection to your site, so you'd connect again to turn it back on.
- Change lets you pick a different destination. A blog publishes to one destination at a time — connecting a new one replaces the old one.
- Test connection checks that your site still answers and accepts the saved credentials. Update credentials lets you paste a new key or address. Disconnect removes the connection; the blog then publishes through the ProjectHQ API until you choose something else.
For Webflow, Ghost and PrestaShop there is also Where readers see it: the address your posts are read at, if it differs from where they're delivered (for example a headless Ghost blog). ProjectHQ uses it to link to your articles.

Publish an article
When an article is written and checked, click Publish at the top of the editor (Edit and review an article shows the editor in full). If the article still has image slots waiting for your own pictures, ProjectHQ asks you to add them first — see Images in your articles.
The dialog tells you where the article is going:
Click Publish. With a connected site, the article is delivered straight away, images included, and its final address is filled in once delivery finishes.
The first time you publish in a blog that has no destination yet, the dialog asks Where should this article go? Pick a site under Into your site, automatically (this opens its connect form in the settings), or By hand under Or without connecting anything. You only answer this once per blog.
Publishing by hand (Manual): the dialog gives you Copy HTML and Download .zip (every image plus a copy of the article that points at them), and a Published URL box. Put the article live in your CMS, check the address, and click Mark as published.
Scheduled articles — from your content plan or autopilot — are published and delivered on their date automatically. With Manual, a scheduled article becomes a reminder on its date instead.
After publishing
Editing a live article doesn't change your website on its own: ProjectHQ saves your edits, and your site keeps the version it was sent. When the two differ, a Push update to … button appears next to Unpublish — click it to send the current version, images included.
The publishing log is in the editor's SEO tab, under Publishing. It shows each delivery as Queued, Delivering, Delivered, Out of date or Failed, with every attempt and its error. A failed delivery is retried automatically a few times; after that, fix the cause and click Retry delivery.
Unpublishing: click Unpublish in the editor, then Unpublish Article. The article goes back to draft in ProjectHQ and, depending on the destination, is taken down on your site too (see the table above).
