Write an article with AI
Give the AI agent a title and it researches, outlines and writes a full article, with as much or as little input from you as you like.
Give the AI agent a title and it researches the topic, plans an outline and writes the whole article, with sources, internal links and images. You decide how much say you want along the way: none at all, one check of the outline, or a conversation while it works.
Start an article
- Open Publications and pick the blog or documentation site the article belongs to.
- Click New article.
- Enter the Article title. This is the only thing you must fill in.
- Add Notes if you have wishes, for example who the article is for, examples to include, or pages it should or shouldn't link to. The agent treats them as instructions for the whole article.
- Under How it works, choose how involved you want to be (see the table below).
- Optionally pick a Publish date and time. Leave it empty to publish the article yourself when it's ready.
- Click Start AI Agent.
| Option | What happens |
|---|---|
| Fully autonomous | Researches and writes from start to finish. No questions, no stops. |
| Approve the outline first | Plans on its own, then waits for you to approve the outline before it writes. |
| Ask, then approve | Asks you when it's genuinely unsure, and waits for you to approve the outline. |
Prefer to write it yourself? Click Or start with a blank article instead at the bottom of the dialog to open an empty article in the editor.
Watch the agent work
After you start, the article opens in a live view. The left side shows what the agent is doing: searching your Knowledge Base, reading your pages, searching the web, researching keywords and checking what already ranks in Google. The right side fills with the outline, and later with the article itself.
A label in the top-right corner tells you where it stands: Working, Needs your answer, Outline review or Finished.
With Fully autonomous, the editor opens on its own as soon as the agent starts writing the article.
You can leave the page while it works. The article's status in the list (Writing, Review outline, Answer question) brings you back when it needs you. The editor shows the same Writing status while the agent is at work.
Review the outline
With Approve the outline first or Ask, then approve, the agent stops once the outline is ready:
The outline shows:
- the Featured image it plans and the Meta description for search results;
- each numbered section with its key points;
- the Sources each section relies on. A language label appears on a source that isn't in the article's language;
- the Internal links to your own pages it will add;
- the image planned for each section. AI image means it will be generated, Selected means a photo or screenshot is already chosen, and Upload means you need to add one yourself (see Images in your articles).
To change the outline you can:
- rename a section by clicking its title, remove it with the × that appears when you hover, or click Add section;
- type what you'd like changed in the box on the left, for example "merge sections 3 and 4", and click Send. The agent reworks the outline and shows it again.
When you're happy, click Approve & write. The article opens in the editor and you can watch it being written there. It stays read-only until the agent is done.
When the agent needs you
- Needs your answer. With Ask, then approve, the agent may ask a question. Pick one of the suggested answers or type your own, then click Send.
- Nothing to write from. If the agent couldn't find enough material, it says so and explains What would unblock it. Paste or type what it needs, such as product details, a document or a link, and click Add & run again. Your text is saved with the article's notes.
After the article is written
When the writing is done, the agent checks the article on its own. It verifies claims against its sources, scores the content and fixes the problems it can safely fix. Then the article is a Draft in the editor, ready for you to read. See Edit and review an article.
If you set a publish date, the article goes live on that day. Otherwise publish it when you're ready; see Publish to your website.
If writing fails, the article shows Fix error in the list. Open it and click Retry generation.
What the agent uses
- Your Knowledge Base: what it knows about your business, products and prices.
- Your website: existing pages to learn from and link to.
- Web research and search data: sources it cites, keywords to target and the articles that already rank.
- Your writing defaults and brand voice: house rules, language and audience country (see Publications: blogs and documentation).
The agent researches and writes in the language of the publication, and links to sources in that language.
Tip: Writing articles uses the article credits included in your plan. See Plans, trial and limits.
