Find your way around

A tour of the ProjectHQ screen: the menu, switching projects, managing modules, settings, notifications and your profile.

A quick tour of the ProjectHQ screen: where your modules are, how to switch projects, and where to find settings, integrations and notifications.

The main screen

The ProjectHQ screen with numbered markers on the project switcher, menu, Integrations, Manage Modules, account items, Chat with us, theme switch, notifications and profile menu
  1. Project switcher — the project you're in. Click it to switch to another one.
  2. Menu — Dashboard, then each module you've turned on, then Knowledge Base. A number next to Insights or Live Chat means new items are waiting. A Set up label means the module needs a connection first — click it to set it up.
  3. Integrations — connect your website and outside services: the website script, Google Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools and IndexNow.
  4. Manage Modules — turn modules on and off and change their order.
  5. Your account — Upgrade (during a trial) or Subscription, Invoices and Settings. Only the project's owner sees these. See Manage your subscription and invoices.
  6. Chat with us — ask a question about ProjectHQ.
  7. Light / dark mode — switch the look of the app.
  8. Notifications — the bell shows a red number when something new needs you.
  9. Profile menu — your Profile and Log out.

Need more room? Click Collapse at the bottom of the menu to shrink it to icons — hover an icon to see its name — and Expand to bring the full menu back.

Switch between projects

Click the project name in the top-left corner:

The project switcher open, with All projects, the projecthq.pro project and Add project
  • Pick a project from the list to switch to it.
  • All projects opens an overview of every website you have, with their key numbers side by side.
  • Add project adds another website.

Turn modules on and off

Each project has its own set of modules. To change it, click Manage Modules in the menu:

The Manage Modules panel listing active modules with checkmarks and drag handles
  • Click a module's checkmark to turn it off. It moves to Available — click it there to turn it back on.
  • Drag a module by its handle (the dots on the left) to change where it sits in the menu.

Turning a module off removes it from the menu but deletes nothing. Turn it back on and your data is still there.

Find any setting

Click Settings at the bottom of the menu. All settings for the project live in one panel:

The project settings panel: groups on the left, Project sections in the middle, Brand settings on the right and the Find a setting search box
  1. Groups — Workspace (your Project and Account), your Publications, your Chat widgets and the Modules that have settings.
  2. Sections of the group you picked — for Project: Brand, Authors, Region and Competitors. Under Account you'll find AI assistants (connect ChatGPT, Claude or Cursor), Subscription, Invoices and Danger zone (delete a project).
  3. The settings themselves. Some sections save as you type; others have a Save button.
  4. Find a setting — don't know where something lives? Type what you're looking for.

Tip: The address in your browser changes as you move between sections. Bookmark it to get straight back to a setting you use often.

Notifications

Click the bell in the top-right corner to see what happened while you were away — an article is ready to review, a site audit finished, your content plan changed:

The notifications panel with three notifications: article ready, site audit finished and content plan updated, each with a link
  • Each notification links straight to what it's about — View Article, View Site Audit, View Content Plan and so on.
  • New notifications have a blue dot. Click Mark all read to clear them.

Your profile

Click your name in the top-right corner and choose Profile. There you set your Display name and, if you write articles, how you appear as their author: Author byline, Job title / credentials, Bio and Profile links. More in Authors and bylines.
