Connect Bing Webmaster Tools and IndexNow
Send every article you publish to Bing, Yandex, Seznam and Naver automatically with Bing Webmaster Tools and IndexNow.
A new article can wait days or weeks before a search engine finds it. Two integrations shorten that to minutes: Bing Webmaster Tools submits every article you publish straight to Bing, and IndexNow announces it to Bing, Yandex, Seznam and Naver in one go. Both work on their own after setup — you publish, ProjectHQ does the rest. You can use either or both.
Google doesn't take part in IndexNow. For Google, connect Google Search Console.
Both live under Integrations in the menu:
Connect Bing Webmaster Tools
Your site must already be added and verified in Bing Webmaster Tools. Unverified sites aren't offered, because Bing rejects submissions for them.
-
Click Integrations → Bing Webmaster Tools.
-
Connect — click Connect with Bing and sign in with the Microsoft account you use for Bing Webmaster Tools.
Prefer an API key? Click Use an API key instead (if there's no Connect with Bing button, the key field is shown straight away). Copy the key from Bing Webmaster Tools → Settings → API Access, paste it into API key and click Connect with API key. The key is stored encrypted and never shown again.
-
Choose Site — the Bing site that Matches your domain is already selected. Click Use This Site.
-
Auto-Submit — you're done. From now on, every article you publish from ProjectHQ is submitted to Bing.
Bing's submission allowance
Bing limits how many URLs a site can submit per day and per month; the panel shows Submissions left today and Left this month. When the allowance runs out, new articles wait in a queue and go out automatically once it resets — nothing is lost. Submissions that hit a temporary error are retried in the background.
To check a single article, open it in the editor: the Performance section shows whether it was Submitted, is Queued — awaiting quota, or Submission failed, with Submit now or Resubmit to send it again. See Edit and review an article.
Bing data in Search Console
With Bing connected, the Search Console page gets a Google / Bing switch so you can read Bing's clicks and impressions too. Bing reports with a delay, and newly verified sites can take a few weeks before data appears — until then you see No Bing performance data yet.
Disconnect Bing
Open the panel and click Disconnect. The stored credential and the submission log are deleted and new articles are no longer submitted. Pages Bing already indexed stay indexed. If you connected with an API key, it stays valid in your Bing account until you revoke or rotate it there.
Set up IndexNow
IndexNow needs no account. Your site proves it's yours by hosting a small key file.
-
Click Integrations → IndexNow, then Generate key.
-
Download the key file — click the file name to download it.
-
Upload it to your site root, so it opens at exactly the address shown (click it to copy). The file must contain the key and nothing else. On most hosts you upload it to the same folder as your homepage.
-
Click I uploaded it — check now. If the file isn't found yet, ProjectHQ tells you so — check the address and try again.
When the check passes, you see Verified — new articles are announced automatically:
To stop, click Disable IndexNow and confirm with Disable. You can delete the key file from your site afterwards.
Which one should I use?
| Bing Webmaster Tools | IndexNow | |
|---|---|---|
| Search engines | Bing | Bing, Yandex, Seznam, Naver |
| Account needed | Yes, with your site verified | No — a key file on your site |
| Bing data in Search Console | Yes | No |
| Per-article status in the editor | Yes | — |
Using both is fine: Bing simply receives the article twice.
Note: Both cover the articles you publish to your website with ProjectHQ. Pages you publish some other way aren't submitted.
